Medical and Holistic Wellness Services

“A Smooth Sea Never Made a Skilled Sailor”

I’m Nia O’Sullivan

The founder of Compass Rose Wellness

My career in human resources brought me so much joy for almost 15 years. However, my own experience as a working mom, who suffered a debilitating concussion, and then attempted to juggle work, parenting and my own recovery, was my inspiration to help others navigate the world of physical and mental wellness in all areas of life. I couldn’t find enough resources to help me and my family with our various needs, and felt like I was always searching for guidance. After some time I realized I need to pay attention to my mind, body and spirit for optimal health and wellbeing. So I wanted to combine evidence-based medical options in the same centre as holistic options. I felt suffocated by constant “mom guilt” for not doing as much as I felt I should be doing for my job, my kids, my husband, my house, the list is endless. I knew that my expectations of myself were not reasonable and that I was not alone in my feelings, but I struggled to find the right balance. This lack of balance and mom-guilt were creating their own problems in my health. I felt like I couldn’t find a safe space that was free of agendas, where people could come together to discuss different approaches to their own healthcare needs, and their children’s health and well-being. Adding in the challenge of finding concussion rehabilitation services for busy family life was enough for me to take matters into my own hands create the centre that I was looking for. As a result, I wanted to create “a village” that anyone could turn to for treatments and guidance without feeling pushed to make choices they aren’t comfortable with. The pressure on people today, coming from internal and external sources, are so challenging to navigate through, and we all need a peaceful space to decompress and breathe.
